Privacy Policy
Last updated October 20, 2026. This policy covers the MyCloud Photos iPhone app and the MyCloud Photos Mac app.
The short version
We don't collect your data. We run no servers that receive your photos, your library details or anything about how you use the apps. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. This website sets no cookies and loads no analytics or third-party scripts.
How the apps work
- The Mac app copies your Mac's Photos library, with its details, into folders or drives that you choose. Those backups are ordinary files you own.
- The iPhone app connects directly to your Mac, over your home network or a private network you set up yourself such as Tailscale. The connection is encrypted (TLS 1.3), and the iPhone accepts only the Mac you paired with by scanning its code.
- Photos, videos and their details travel only between your iPhone and your own Mac. They don't pass through us.
What stays on your devices
- Your photos, videos, their metadata and the search and collection index: on your Mac and your backup drives.
- The pairing key for your Mac: in your iPhone's Keychain.
- Memories Here room scans and photo pins: only in the iPhone app's private storage, excluded from device backups. Delete a room in the app, or delete the app to remove them all.
- The Sample Library's pictures are drawn on your iPhone and kept only in its cache.
- Camera: used to scan the pairing code and, in Memories Here, to map a room. Camera images aren't saved or sent anywhere.
- Photos permission on the iPhone is used only to save a photo back to your iPhone when you tap Save.
Purchases
Purchases are handled by Apple through your Apple Account. We don't see your name, payment details or Apple Account. The iPhone app passes Apple's signed purchase record to your own paired Mac so the Mac can recognise the license. It goes nowhere else.
Optional features in the Mac app
- Place names: if you turn on "Look up place names", the Mac app sends a photo's coordinates (never the photo) to Apple Maps to get a city name.
- AI search: if you choose to turn it on, the Mac app downloads model files from huggingface.co after you pick a pack. Your photos and searches are processed on your Mac and aren't uploaded.
Sharing and children
We don't sell or share personal information, because we don't have it. The apps aren't directed to children and collect no children's data.
Your data requests
Since we hold none of your data, there's nothing for us to export or delete. If you contact us, we use your message only to reply and will delete it on request.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll post the new version here with a new date.
