How can we help?

Questions, problems or feedback: contact us through source4ai.com. Please include your iPhone model and iOS version, your Mac model and macOS version, and the version number shown in the app's Settings.

Get started

  1. Download the MyCloud Photos Mac app (macOS 14 or later), open the disk image and drag MyCloud Photos to Applications.
  2. Open it, allow access to your Photos library, and choose a drive or folder to back up to.
  3. Install MyCloud Photos Library on your iPhone from the App Store.
  4. On the Mac, choose Pair iPhone. On the iPhone, tap Scan QR Code. Check that the security code matches on both devices.

Not ready to pair? Tap Explore a Sample Library on the iPhone welcome screen to try the app with computer-drawn sample pictures, no Mac required. Leave it from Settings › Leave Sample Library and Pair a Mac.

Common questions

My iPhone can't find my Mac.

Both need to be on the same Wi-Fi network, the Mac must be awake with MyCloud Photos open, and Local Network access must be on for the iPhone app (iPhone Settings › MyCloud Photos › Local Network). For access away from home, install Tailscale on both devices and pair again.

It says I need to pair once more.

Version 1.0 encrypts the connection between your iPhone and Mac. Update the Mac app, then scan its new code. Your backup isn't affected.

Does a backup delete anything from iCloud?

No. The Mac app only reads your Photos library. It never deletes or edits anything in Photos or iCloud, and photos you delete later stay in your backup.

What does the purchase include?

A one-time purchase unlocks full-size originals, video playback, and Share / Save to Photos on the iPhone, and lifts the Mac app's 1,000-item free preview. It includes one year of updates. An extra year of updates is optional and never renews automatically. When updates end, everything you already have keeps working.

My purchase didn't unlock my Mac.

Open the iPhone app while it's paired with the Mac. The iPhone passes Apple's signed purchase record to the Mac, which checks it. See Settings › License › Your Mac on the iPhone.

How do I restore a purchase?

iPhone app › Settings › License › Restore Purchases, signed in with the Apple Account that bought it.

Refunds

Apple handles refunds for App Store purchases: reportaproblem.apple.com.

Where are my photos?

On your Mac and the drives you chose, as ordinary files. There is no copy with us.

Memories Here doesn't work.

It needs an iPhone or iPad that supports ARKit, camera permission and a well-lit room. Room scans stay on the device.

How do I unpair?

iPhone: Settings › Unpair This iPhone. You can pair again at any time with a new code from the Mac.
